What riders have to say:
"I've managed a couple of longish time-trials on my bike with my new set-up and the tiniest changes you made to my aerobars have done wonders for my lower back. I have felt no tightness on the bike and only a little afterward which is a drastic improvement given I usually feel it on the bike and for a day or so afterward. Thank you so much once again for the time you spent with me. It is appreciated more than you will ever know"
Alison Coyle, Professional Triathlete
"I felt confident that Matt knew what he was doing. I was impressed with the number of measurements that were taken and the time Matt took to go through all possible causes of my back and knee pain."
"The detail and analysis was sensational, felt like i was a pro with all of the video taping etc."
The Details
A precise bike fit is essential for ensuring a comfortable and injury free cycling experience as well as helping a rider achieve optimal power and efficiency. What constitutes an accurate fit is a very individual thing as many factors need to be taken into account during the fitting process. Such factors include the event type, riding style, posture, strength, flexibility and injury history.
At Parkside Sports Physio every athlete is fitted with these points in mind. The bike fitting service offered below is targeted at all levels of rider from beginner to professional. Setting up bikes for triathletes is a vital process to ensure you can ride aerodynamically, breathe, eat and drink comfortably and then be able to run well off the bike
A basic physical and biomechanical screening is performed to identify any issues that may need to be accomodated in the bike fit then body measurements are taken to guide the fitting process. The bike fit is conducted in a methodical and meticulous maner and only concludes when both the rider and Matt are satisfied with the end result, typically taking 2-3 hours to complete.
The Bike Fitting process includes:
-
Pre-fit interview where we find out what sort of riding you do, what mileage, any changes to training or equipment and most importantly comfort, performance or injury problems you may be having on the bike
-
Targetted, cycling specific physical and biomechanical screening to identify structural and functional issues we need to consider when setting you up on the bike
-
Measurement of current bike position

- Static measurement of you on your bike, checking seat height, cleat position, seat setback, bar position and a visual analysis of obvious issues
- We then video you riding, capture to PC and use 2D motion analysis software (Swinger Pro) to analyse joint and body segment angles, alignment, range of movement using frame advance, slow motion and various editing tools in the software package

- Changes are then made to setup and you are filmed again and results measured and correlated with "rider feel" to arrive at a new position as needed
- Bike is re-measured and you leave with a fit diagram and Disk with your fit videos for future reference
